The march 9th handshake between president Kenyatta and Raila Odinga was not well received by the Ruto faction of jubilee terming it as an agreement between two individuals. The entrance of Raila into the political fold has served to complicate Dr. Ruto's 2022 ambitions.
It is in this light that the deputy president's faction of Jubilee Party, christened tanga tanga movement have been at logger heads with their counterparts affiliated to president Uhuru.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargey who is an ally of the deputy president has been among the Rift Valley legislators who have been opposed of the impending changes in the constitution aimed at creating more positions to accommodate more leaders into the executive arm of government.
The group feels that the changes are aimed at eroding the powers enjoyed currently by a sitting president. In the current setting, the president enjoys unlimited power as the head of state and government.
