Nairobi based lawyer Allan Kosgey has kept residents and political pundits in Nandi guessing on his political moves.
The philanthropic lawyer has in the recent past been involved in several fund raisers in the county. Many political observers had foreseen a scenario where he would run for the Nandi Hills parliamentary seat, however, his recent moves have left many wondering the exact seat he will be seeking during the next election cycle.
Mr Kosgey played a critical role in representing his father at the international criminal court. Henry Kosgey had been accused of involvement in the political violence that errupted immediately after the disputed 2007 general election. From the ICC website Allan Kosgey was listed as the counsel representing Henry Kosgey. Among the other lawyers listed include George Oraro and Julius Kemboy.
Allan's recent political moves have made it harder for observers to pinpoint the exact seat that he might be eyeing in Nandi.
Some have intimated that he will be going for the top county seat, others have however downplayed this saying that the young Kosgey might be seeking the Nandi Hills constituency seat.
"He has kept his cards close to his chest, I can't tell the exact position he is seeking. However, one thing is clear, Mr Kosgey will be vying in 2022." Said one resident.
His moves have stirred political debates amongst Nandi residents. Some feel that he is well cut for the Nandi gubernatorial seat while others feel that he can't be trusted since he is a first timer in the Nandi political arena.
That Mr Allan Kosgey is a great political schemer is a fact that can not be downplayed. He put up a spirited campaign during the 2017 general election where he vied for the Kesses parliamentary seat. He gave the incumbent MP Hon Mishra a run for his money.
His deep pockets and political connections run deep in the family. He comes from a family of politicians. His brother is the current member of parliament for Emgwen constituency while his father was a long serving member of Parliament for Tinderet Constituency and a minister.
What remains to be seen is his next political moves which can only be dictated by time.
