Nyeri town legislator Ngunjiri Wambugu has filed a petition
before the Judicial Service Commission seeking the removal of Chief Justice
Maraga.
The legislator has cited ‘gross misconduct’ in his 14-page petition. The Jubilee law maker wants the Judicial Service Commission, the body which is tasked with the mandate of employing judges and magistrates to investigate the conduct of Judge Maraga since his appointment as Chief Justice.
Apart from accusations of fronting a ‘judicial coup’ in the
judiciary, Mr. Wambugu has again accused Judge Maraga of preventing Justice
Mohamed Ibrahim from taking part in the hearing of the presidential petition
filed by Hon. Raila Odinga. This move by Nyeri town legislator comes nine days ahead
of the full judgement release by the Supreme court which already nullified the
August 8th Presidential elections citing irregularities in result
transmission.
