IEBC will today be meeting in Naivasha for a retreat meant to iron out issues after the sharp differences that emerged recently. Led by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati, senior officials in the commission will be converging outside the city confines to put their house in order.
This will be going down as they await the full Supreme Court verdict. Pundits have described this as a prudent and fastidious move that will ensure smooth
coordination during the coming repeat presidential polls.
It is a gesture meant to put their house in order and build up public confidence in light of the recent happenings that have placed the commission on the receiving end owing to their public spat and internal wrangles that have left the commission vulnerable.
A commission insider oozed confidence that they will be going to Naivasha today to forge a common purpose and ensure smooth, efficient and diligent running of affairs in the body mandated to conduct and oversee elections.
The repeat polls were ordered by the supreme court after it found the commission guilty of not conducting the August 8 polls in accordance with the law.
