Deputy President William Ruto Seeks to Solidify His Political Base Ahead Of The 2022 Elections

The deputy president hosted a delegation of the newly elected leaders from the larger Rift valley at his Karen home yesterday. The leaders were drawn from Baringo, Kericho, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Nandi and Bomet Counties.

The meeting which took place at his home was meant to bring together the leaders with an aim of fronting an agenda that would form the basis towards which these leaders would operate on in Jubilee's second term.

The deputy president is expected to make his first attempt at the presidency in 2022 after Uhuru Kenyatta's term elapses. He is keen on ensuring that the legislators and the leaders from the rift read from the same page.

At the meeting, the leaders highlighted the plight of their people,with each leader giving out the developmental needs of their respective regions.

It is expected that, with the new term, the government will focus mostly on finishing the projects that were commissioned on their first term.

The deputy president assured the leaders of the government's commitment towards a better country.
