President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier today led host of leaders as they laid to rest prominent politician and business man Nicholas Kipyator Biwott at his Elgeiyo Marakwet home. The event was attended by thousands of mourners who came in to console the family.

Mr Biwott who passed on last week after a long illness was eulogized as a great statesman and a philanthropist who went out of his way to assist people from all walks of life.

Secretive life

Mr Biwott is said to have led a low key life away from the awe and the pomp associated with some of the prominent business people. He was a shy man that avoided any form of controversies according to his peers.

President Kenyatta used the moment to urge Kenyans to emulate his statesmanship. "The Kenya we are enjoying right now can only be attributed to the selflessness of someone like Biwott," said the president.

Deputy president William Ruto acknowledged the important role played by the late Biwott in ensuring that everyone accessed education. "He played an important role in ensuring that residents are educated." "He was a uniting factor among the Rift Valley residents" said Ruto.
