Nicholas Kibet jubilee nominee for Kiptuiya ward Nandi County
Nandi News
Speaking exclusively to Nandi News, Kiptuiya ward jubilee nominee Nicholas Kibet sought to outline his main agenda for the people, and why exactly he chose to seek elective position as a member of the county assembly for the said ward.
The diploma holder in project planning and management from Moi university, is also currently undertaking a degree on the same course from the same university. Born in 1990 Mr Kibet has had his own share of experience politically having been the Youth president Nandi county for three consecutive years.
Why I joined politics
For a very long time, Kiptuiya ward has been neglected in terms of development. I only knew that for any meaningful change to take place, I must be part of it. I joined politics because I believe that it's the youth that will shape how our county affairs are handled.
It was a win for the youth and the women in Nandi, since most of the leaders elected in our county are youthful including the governor and the senate nominees who are my very good friends.

My plans for the Youth
Being a youth, my main agenda at the county assembly will be to ensure that the youth, the women and all the marginalized groups are given an equal platform to compete and get employed in the county through legislation. Previously, the people from my area were marginalized owing to the poor relationship between the county government and the local leaders. I intend to change all this by building a cordial working relation with the county leadership.

At the ward level, I want to initiate youth owned projects that are self sustainable and productive. My ward being a cosmopolitan area, I'll ensure that all the stakeholders are well represented in all our undertakings. I will ensure that in line with the jubilee manifesto, that seeks to set up technical institutes at the grassroots level, my ward has to have a fully equipped and functional institute that will equip our youth with the technical skills that will better their lives and that of the ward.

Bills targeting Youth, Women and persons living with disabilities
I am currently working on a bill that will see the youth, women and the PWDs have access to government tenders, through financing of the LPOs accorded to this group. I am working with some of the youth groups in my area to see to it that their groups are registered as legal business entities for them to be able to do business with both the county and National governments.
Plans for Kiptuiya residents
My plans for the residents of Kiptuiya revolve on the need to unite all the tribes residing at the ward. Previously, area leaders have used the diversity to plant seeds of hate and divisions along tribal lines. I want this to change, I want people of Kiptuiya to become one.
On Infrastructure
Better roads and hospitals for our people will be my priority. I want them to have better access roads to ease the movements of goods and services. Better health facilities will mean an improved living conditions in our ward.
On Agriculture
Farming forms the biggest income earner to the people of Kiptuiya. I want to leverage on this by ensuring that the cost of production is lowered through subsidized cost of seeds and fertilizers.
Access to clean water
Water being a fundamental human need, has been a challenge to most of the residents. Through partnership with the county government, I intended to make access of water my top most priority.
My future ambitions
Being a youthful leader, it is only prudent that I be full of vision on where I want to be. I joined politics on the platform of being a source of inspiration to my fellow youths. Having worked as the youth president Nandi county, a position that draws no salaries, It inculcated in me a spirit of volunteerism, something that I would urge all youths to follow. My ambition is seeing my fellow youths seek more elective posts in this country.
To the people of Kiptuiya Ward
I am seeking your vote in the coming elections as your member for the county assembly. It is time for the youths to steer this county to the direction it needs to be. With other elected leaders including the governor, senator, women representative and fellow MCA's, I vow to work together with to ensure that our ward no longer remains marginalized as has always been.
Parting Shot
It is important for the youths to realize that with focus and determination, no one will hinder their success.
