Deputy president William Ruto still commands the highest percentage of the votes in the rift valley. According to a survey conducted by Nandi news over the weekend in which close to five hundred people were interviewed, he still has support at the grassroots more than any other leader from the region.
From those polled, 88% believe in him and the jubilee administration's capabilities of transformation. 2% said they didn't believe in him and that jubilee did not reflect entirely on the aspirations of the Kalenjin Nation.
KANU's Gideon Moi came in far second with a lower margin of 2.7% while Chama Cha Mashinani's Isaac Ruto garnered 2% points.
The findings come amidst growing concerns from opinion shapers from the region over the increased opposition activities in the region. The recent trip by the head of state together with his deputy has positively impacted the outcome of these findings.
The two are expected to tour the region once again towards the end of July to drum up support for their reelection. The jubilee administration is pegging its reelection on the vast infrastructural development it has invested in including the standard gauge railway
With only less than two months into the elections, a boost in the confidence levels of the electorates in the larger Kalenjin Nation would ensure a smooth sail for the two in the August polls.
