After the recently concluded primaries, the Nandi jubilee nominees have put up a united front with an aim of consolidating votes for the ruling jubilee party. They have been moving throughout the county on a thanksgiving campaign, a sign that they are indeed working together.
The leaders who include gubernatorial, senatorial, women representative, members of Parliament and the members of County Assembly nominees have been on the move campaigning for jubilee and at the same time marketing their own respective candidatures.
In the outgoing government, all these leaders seemed to read from different scripts pointing to a weak divided administration. This saw the collapse of nearly the entire system as manifested by the nomination process in which the governor, 2mps, 22 MCA's lost their seats to new comers.
One would ask, who exactly is responsible for uniting the leaders? It is the governor. Being the one that has the largest responsibility within the county, the governor should give direction to the rest on where exactly the county should be headed to in terms of development and service delivery.
Incoming governor hon Stephen Sang should quickly pick up the leadership mantle and lead from the "front" "Tuga Tai was his campaign slogan." He has shown immense capabilities since he was nominated as the jubilee flag bearer pointing to a more efficient form of leadership.
He should therefore ensure that he gets hold of the majority of MCA'S to ensure a smooth running of government business in the county assembly. A great hold on the house would mean that government business would be passed without any hicups that characterized the outgoing government that was held at ransom by the members of the county assembly.
Incoming senator Wakili Cherargey
The senator and the MCA's will play a vital role in offering oversight just like it was envisioned in the constitution. This will keep the government from going overboard in terms of legislation and spending of revenues from the exchequer. Senate nominee played a vital role in the outgoing government as a people's watchdog something which endeared him to the Nandi electorate.
The Nandi electorate has immense hope in the new leadership. It will be upon them to ensure that they deliver on their promises. Devolution must be felt by each member of the county. We hold our leaders in high esteem and we believe that united, they will make Nandi a county like no other in our country.
